Shahid claims that he is inherently drawn towards fitness and it is a way of life for him. His role in the films Kaminey (2009) and Chance Pe Dance (2010) required him to have different body types. Shahid Kapoor had to undergo a complete change in his lifestyle for about a year and he worked diligently towards his goal.
Shahid worked out five to six times a week. Being a vegetarian, he followed a fixed diet. He ate food with no sugar and oil and consumed food every three hours. Brown rice and oats featured regularly on his dinner plate. He even worked out at 2 AM if he had grueling schedules for shooting. He just followed his fitness trainer and did not have a specific favorite exercise.
It was a combination of weights and parkour, plus cardio and circuit training. The actor does not have a gym at his house but that does not stop him from working out. He believes that Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone are the fittest in the film industry. He does not have any issues with getting six packs abs if the role for a film demands it.
