Katie Holmes dazzles in the November issue of Marie Claire magazine - in addition to a sexy photo shoot and video (watch it below!), the actress reveals that she's ready to move on to the next big chapter of her high-profile life.
"I'm excited to begin a new phase: roles I might have been afraid to play before, places I want to travel to with my daughter. I'd like to build the design business. But not too fast," she says.
The Don't Be Afraid of the Dark star also dishes on life as a mother to five-year-old Sure; her daughter with movie star Tom Cruise; revealing that parenthood comes naturally to her.
She tells the magazine, "My daughter was with me the other day at a work event and it was a long day. I took out some paper and markers that I had in my bag, and someone said to me, 'Oh, that is so cute,' and I looked at her and thought, No, this is not cute. This is what all mothers have to do."
Katie also says that switching between family life and work isn't a choice, it's a necessity.
"[Y]ou have to," she says. "As an actress who is also a mother, you don't have the luxury of drama."
