“I have been discriminated against by @SouthwestAir,” Hailey Tweeted. “Flt. attendant said that it was a “family” airline and kissing was not ok.”

Criticizing the airline for staffing “homophobic employees,” Hailey added: “Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as ‘family.’ I know plenty of wonderful same sex families I would like to introduce them to Boycott @SouthwestAir if you are gay. They don’t like us.”

The airline posted a statement late Monday, saying: “We received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive.”

“Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender,” the statement continued. “The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight.”

A lesbian actress who starred in TV's "The L-Word" says she was escorted off of a Southwest Airlines flight for kissing her girlfriend.

Leisha Hailey on Monday took to Twitter to call for a boycott of the carrier after a flight attendant told them other passengers had complained.

Hailey tweeted, "Since when is showing affection to someone you love illegal?"

Southwest responded on its website that Hailey was approached "based solely on behaviour and not gender."

The actress and a band mate from the group Uh Huh Her were on a flight from Baltimore to St. Louis.

Earlier this month the airline kicked off Green Day's lead man Billie Joe Armstrong for wearing his pants too low.

Southwest Airlines, the airline company that loves to discriminate based on size and what you’re wearing (not to mention harass some women in the process) kicked the actress and her girlfriend off of their flight yesterday for kissing, with the reason being that Southwest is a “family” airline.

After tons of tweets by Leisha demanding an apology and a ton of news coverage, Southwest issued a public apology claiming that the flight attendant was responding to passenger complaints “characterizing the behavior as aggressive,” claiming the actions made weren’t based on the fact that they were gay, but because they were making out.

Which I call bullshit on. The airline has way too much of a reputation of discrimination — not to mention against a lot of celebrities, which also gives the impression that the airline is guilty of discrimination not just because they’re assholes, but to garner more attention (and hence, more business). It’s like they’re the PETA of the airline industry.
