Demi Moore has confirmed reports that she plans to divorce Ashton Kutcher, according ot TMZ.com.
The couple - married for just over six years - have been going through troubled times of late after a woman came forward with allegations that she had slept with Kutcher on their September 24th wedding anniversary.
22-year-old Texas native Sarah Leal revealed her story to Us Weekly magazine in October, claiming she enjoyed some naked time with Kutcher and another woman in the hot tub on the balcony of his hotel suite in San Diego, and then afterward the couple had unprotected sex. He reportedly told Leal that he and Moore had separated.
Until recently the couple appeared to be working things out, but today Moore released a statement on the status of their split.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," the statement reads.
"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.
"This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."
Kutcher also confirmed the split with a short message on his Twitter page.
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail," he said.
Neither addressed Kutcher's alleged affair.
Moore (49) visited Kutcher (33) on the set of his TV show, Two And A Half Men, in late October; however she didn't show up to a GQ Gentlemen's Ball honoring the couple for their joint charity work.
